Jori's been hanging around me lately, trying to get me to show him more of my lock picking skills. He's a bright kid, but he really needs to practice a lot more on his own.
As luck would have it, we didn't even get back to that dragon's island before we were attacked by a bunch of orc pirates, who boarded our ship. After slaughtering them for a while, their ship - with Gryk and Honesty aboard - started to break free and run. Fortunately, I was up in one of the crow's nests taking a short breather from battle to gulp down a potion. Unfortunately, I wasn't quick enough, and though I made a very impressive jump, the pirate ship sped off without me.
Of course, only a fool would jump off of an airship without a backup plan - my potions of fly. This being my first time attempting to drink a potion while falling out of the sky, I managed to fumble drinking my first potion of fly, and wound up just getting it all over my face. Fortunately, my luck was with me on the second attempt, and I downed my last potion of fly.
An aside - that was pretty expensive. Two potions of fly are expensive enough, and they're pretty hard to come by too. I must really be more careful when jumipng from ship to ship in the future.
The pirate ship was flying much too fast for me to catch up, but I chased after it anyway, certain that Gryk would managed to find a way to stop it. Sure enough, he did, and after a minute or so,the ship turned around and came back. I landed on deck, got caught up on the situation, and then went to investigate the ship's hold.
The hold had two things of interest. The first was a cabin, presumably for the captain, that had a locked chest with 4,000 gp. I'm a little annoyed I didn't see the trap on the lock before I picked it, but I was able to get my hand out of the way quick enough, so it didn't hit me.
Also in the hold was a trap door leading to a small room filled with decomposing bodies and a horrid stench. Obviously, this was the source of the ship's power.
We secured the pirate ship to ours, held the leader of the orcs prisoner on board our ship in the brig, and made our way toward the dragon island, where we dropped off the people we picked up on our way out of Vindalae. From there, we made way for Scuttle Cove.
I still don't like Scuttle Cove, even during its festivities.
We sold the pirate ship for a nice amount of cash.
Using his share from the pirate ship sale, Gryk bribed the mayor (whose name I really ought to remember, but forget at this time) into keeping him informed regarding events on Vindalae. Seems that he and Agnar's old flame have set up a good business relationship with each other.
The rumors we heard regarding the mysterious disappearances are appareantly true. I think we're going to investigate this to get on the mayor's good side.
Whatever. At least that will be more of an adventure than going to these stupid parties with drunkards and drug users all over the place.
