That night, after we made camp, Shumat paid us another visit in secret, and charmed Yhorn's animal companion, Kaz. From what Yhorn told me, Kaz wandered off in the middle of the night to scout ahead, apparently because Yhorn didn't want to. After Kaz had been gonan hour, Yhorn woke me up and asked me to watch camp while he went out to look for Kaz. Shortly afterwards, Kaz returned and tried to get me to go out and look for Yhorn while he remained to watch camp. I was not inclined to go out and search - especially given Kaz's now obviously strange behavior, and told him that, if he had no problems out in the caves, Yhorn would have no problems either, and would probably be back soon.
Kaz roamed around camp looking agitated for awhile, and then, for no apparant reason, attacked me. While defending myself, I roused the rest of the party, and as I struck a blow to Kaz that dropped him to the ground, Shumat made his appearance.
He wasted little time flinging spells and attacks at us, and we responded by firing spells and arrows back at him. I'm not entirely sure why I was content to fire arrows at him and not actually climb the rock face and attack him. Probably because it was obvious he could fly, and if he flew away from where I climbed up to, I'd just be wasting my time.
In any case... sometime during the attack, he cast a spell on me which, Yhorn says, reduced my intelligence to that of the lizard mounts we have and rendered me entirely ineffective. I don't remember anything else up to when the Drow clerics in Erelhei-Cinulu healed me.
Apparently, Agatha got her hands on the bow Shumat was wielding, and it somehow affected her, causing her to become excessively obsessive about keeping all of Shumat's magic items to herself because she was the "leader of the party". Yhorn apparently had to restrain her so that she could not move and cast spells. I'm somewhat disappointed I missed her outburst, but I guess it can't be helped now.
Agatha is not speaking to us as a result of Yhorn giving the clerics all of the items we had recovered since our last foray back to the city. Apparently she thinks it was a far excessive price to pay, but given my situation, I can hardly fault Yhorn for making that choice, and I think that I would have made the same choice in his place as well.
Clearly, though, something needs to be done about Agatha. If she continues to have outbursts like this in the future, none of us will complete our goals...
