Poems: A Lifetime Ago
A Lifetime Ago
by John Bafford
September 9, 1998

I woke from sleep, all alone
No one I care for nearby
except for once
when you were there
but that was a lifetime ago

How I miss your pretty smile
How I miss your calming voice
How i miss your beautiful face
How I miss you always

I went through my day, alone, afraid
Not a caring friend nearby
except for once
when she was there
thankfully, two lifetimes ago

How I miss your soothing touch
How I miss your passionate hugs
How I miss your warming heart
How I miss you always

I finished my day with nothing but sadness
No one I care for nearby
and you're not here
and I'm all alone
and that seems the way it will be

How I miss your deep, deep eyes
How I miss your kiss on my lips
How I miss the time we have shared
How I miss you, always
