Poems: Angel Memories
Angel Memories
by John Bafford
July 29, 2001
In the begining, there was not even darkness,
only an empty void.
No warmth anywhere in sight.

Then one day, a blinding light filled my sky
I looked up, and as my eyes adjusted,
I saw an angel descending.

She came to me
and hugged me
and the world dissolved around me.

She smiled at me
and kissed me
and nothing else mattered.

For ages it seemed
she held me in her arms.
And kept me close to her.

All I could feel
was warmth, and kindness.
And Love.

I curled up
and went to sleep
while loving arms held me.
And gentle hands stroked my hair,
and a soothing voice calmed me.

And after a year
the Angel and I
went our separate ways.

I could not see where she went
and I was surrounded by cold darkness.
There was, however, no void.

The Angel changed my life forever
and taught me the meaning of love.
But when she left,
that's when I truly understood.

I lacked the knowledge to make her stay
and now in the end I am left
with only Memories of an Angel
and the Love and the Joy she gave.
